Panel

NZ1050 is supplied with a photo-realistic FS98 instrument panel based on the original instrument panel of NZ1015 which was used during the Vietnam war era as a FAC training aircraft (complete with gunsight!). Also worthy of comment is the escape knife on the cockpit coaming. As most flying in New Zealand is either over the sea or within minutes of the coast, the standard seat parachute pack worn by all pilots includes an inflatable 1 man dinghy. At one time these were considered highly unreliable, and as an unplanned inflation while the pilot was still strapped in his seat could have very unpleasant consequences, the knife was provided to permit rapid deflation of the dinghy!
The Mk II Harvards come equipped with a simplified panel based on a wartime NA Aircraft factory photo used in the production of the Harvard aircraft maintenance manuals.
